Hidden Warriors CIC has been supported by The National Lottery Community Fund with a £6000 grant for our Sports and Activities for Mental Well Being Project.
The impact of school closures and lockdowns will have an impact on many young people. Hidden Warriors CIC will use sports clubs and activities that are reopening to get young people from disadvantaged backgrounds or challenges within the family that negatively impact on the young person/s into structured sport and activities. The difference this project will make is the mental benefits. It can improve mood, reduce stress and depression, improve sleep habits, and boost self-confidence. Attending a sports/activity club can really help the well being of young people.
What we will learn from this project is that structured sports or activities can bring a wealth of long term benefits to young people, it can be their release from a stressful situation that they could be experiencing at home or school and it will allow them to boost confidence and build relationships. Sports clubs and activities should be able to be enjoyed by all but sometimes the boundary of fees/expenses can stop a young person from enjoying the benefits. With The National Lottery Community Fund the boundaries for young people to access will be reduced.
This project has been largely influenced by our own Sports Initiative and the success it has had so far with getting children from Veterans families involved in sport or other activities. Thanks to the players of the National Lottery we can now extend this project to the Community where Hidden Warriors CIC is based.
We look forward to updating you all when the project commences.
