Ride for Remembrance 2024, a Hidden Warriors CIC cycle fundraising event that also allowed us to pay respects during the week of the 80th anniversary of DDay. This event was sponsored by Portal Security, The Security Specialists.
Starting from the DDay Embarkation Memorial in Plymouth the team cycled over 3 days to our final destination of the National Memorial Arboretum in Staffordshire. This near 300 mile cycle seen the team stop at Taunton and Gloucester for overnight stays at the end of day 1 and day 2. At each overnight stop we laid poppy wreaths at prominent memorials to those that lost their lives during the DDay landings of 1944.

As always, our team leader and route planner Lee Cox was brilliant in getting the team of four cyclists to each of our destinations and with the support of Steve Bolton in the support vehicle the 3 day event was a success. A particular highlight was cycling through and up Cheddar Gorge (not made of cheese as Lee wanted us to believe).

We were grateful to be accompanied on our arrival at Gloucester and the Arboretum by Mike Lawlor and Dave Smith, offering their free time to capture some great photos and video footage of the team, thank you.

In summary a total of £850 was raised via donations from fantastic support with the proceeds being split between Hidden Warriors CIC and our chosen charity to support this year, The Alzheimer’s Society.

Thank you to everyone that supported this event.
