Ride to the Gate 2023. The time has nearly arrived for the 300 mile cycle from the National Memorial Arboretum to the Menin Gate, Ypres. After the postponement of this event last September due to Her Majesty’s passing the team of cyclists, support personnel and those at Hidden Warriors CIC and Haig Housing Trust have continued to work hard to ensure that this event goes ahead.
A join fundraiser with Haig Housing Trust, a charity that provides affordable housing to the Veterans Community and Hidden Warriors CIC that provide support to Veterans and their families, this event will help raise important funds for our work to continue. The start and end points of our cycle are very poignant. Staffordshire National Memorial Arboretum is a tremendous place where respects can be paid to those that have lost their lives in service to their country. The Menin Gate, Ypres is a memorial to the 54,000 service personnel that lost their lives during the Great War that have no known grave. A Last Post Ceremony takes place every evening at the Menin Gate and we are proud to be involved with the wreath laying on the evening of Wednesday 19th April 2023.
For the cycle we have 6 participants, all have served with the Armed Forces and see this event as a perfect way to pay their respects and fundraise for two organisations that care for our Veterans and their families. Our support driver, a non envious task has also served 26 years with the Royal Navy.
We are also proud to announce that event sponsor Allied Universal (Europe) Limited’s, Adrian Moore will be joining us for part of the cycle.
Updates on the event will take place across our social media platforms at regular occasions so you can keep up to date with our progress.
